The Caribbean

We know, a lot of people flock to the sunny beaches of popular Caribbean islands every year, with long-lasting favorites including St Barths, Barbados, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.

Almost all of the Caribbean Islands make for a fantastic holiday, offering lush wildlife, and unforgettable snorkeling and scuba diving. But what about the Caribbean Islands that often get overlooked? The lesser-known locations are incredibly underrated, yet just as gorgeous; just take a look at the spectacular scenery of St. Lucia’s Piton mountains, or the colorful coral reefs of Turks and Caicos!

In fact, many of these islands are far less crowded and also cheaper than their more famous counterparts. Our favorite Caribbean destinations include the unspoiled beauty and authenticity of Saba, or the rich culture of Saint Martin.

Check out our favorite Caribbean restaurants here, and find a place to stay here!

Japan

If there’s one thing that Japan offers up in spades, it’s contrast. The swift tempo and futuristic feel of Tokyo, juxtaposed with the peaceful Japanese gardens, and the ancient temples of Nikko and Matsumoto.

We suggest a vacation here that balances the old with the new, the electric with the serene.

Take in the city views from the Tokyo Skytree, go shopping in the colorful Harajuku district, or enjoy sushi at a waterfront bar.

Go on an inspiring visit to the tranquil Sensõ-ji temple, stroll through Kyoto’s amazing bamboo forests, or capture the perfect Instagram amongst the glowing lanterns and cherry blossoms at the ruins of Nakijin castle.

The USA

Okay, so ‘the USA’ may seem a little broad for a vacation destination, but there are several American states that we’ve added to our list for 2019, so we wanted to mention all of them! From natural rural havens to bright city lights, we’re finding new reasons every year to fall in love with the USA!

Perhaps you’ll experience the wonders of the Grand Canyon and try your hand at poker in one of Las Vegas’ world-famous casinos?

Or possibly you’ll decide to spend a week hiking and horseback riding around Glacier National Park and investigating the many magical museums of Kalispell in Montana?

Or, maybe you’ll choose to boost your adrenaline levels at one of Florida’s many awesome amusement parks, or take some time to relax on one of the sunny beaches in Miami or Fort Lauderdale?

Sri Lanka

This small island just south of India wasn’t a particularly well-known travel destination until the last decade, which has seen a rise in its popularity.

Now, Sri Lanka (formerly known as Ceylon), has quietly emerged as a frontrunner for places to travel in 2019, taking the coveted top spot in Lonely Planet’s rankings.

Highlights of a vacation here include a visit to the ancient fortress citadel of Sigiriya and taking a breathtaking safari through Udawalawa National Park.

Our top pick for your Sri Lankan itinerary, however, is the seven-hour train ride from Kandy to Ella. You won’t want to forget your camera for this one: the train itself is just as beautiful as the views over the towering mountains and rolling tea plantations!

Denmark

If you’re daydreaming of taking a little trip to mainland Europe this year, then Denmark offers up the perfect city break in the form of Copenhagen.

Perched across the coastal islands of Amagar and Zealand, this brightly-hued city is a photographer’s dream! Picturesque scenes can be captured on every corner, beginning with the idyllic Nyhavn canal and harbor, and the iconic Little Mermaid bronze sculpture on the Langelinie promenade.

Transport yourself back to the 19th Century at Tivoli pleasure gardens, the second-oldest amusement park in the whole world!

Take a spin on an antique rollercoaster or a nostalgic carousel, then eat your fill of churros, hot dogs and other funfair food in the Tivoli Food Hall.

Finally, spend a day at the Amalienborg Palace, where you can watch the changing of the guards, marvel at the opulent architecture and interiors, and get a behind-the-scenes peek at life in the primary residence of the Danish royal family.

Mexico

Mexico is a patchwork quilt of culture, with every corner of the country bringing its own rich histories and traditions to the intricate tapestry.

Play golf on some of the most astonishing courses on Earth in Baja California, shop for some of the best handcrafted textiles in the world in Oaxaca or go surfing in the vibrant and soulful town of Sayulita on the Pacific coast – every inch of Mexico truly has something to offer you!

The capital, Mexico City, was even named by National Geographic as one of the top cities to visit in 2019; here, you can visit the floating gardens of Xochimilco, shop and eat in the trendy Roma Norte district, or immerse yourself in the life and work of native Mexican artist Frida Kahlo at La Casa Azul.

Our choice area for a vacation here is the stunning coastal city of Cancun, in the Yucatan Peninsula, the biggest jewel in Mexico’s crown. Cancun is not only a buzzing hotspot of culture, food, nature, nightlife, water-sports and beautiful beaches, but is also just a stone’s throw from many ancient Mayan sites, such as Chichen Itza and the Tulum ruins.

Whether you’re on a family vacation or a romantic getaway, Mexico is a real show-stopper. Check out our homepage to see our special offer vacation packages in Cancun!

Ireland

Often overshadowed by its more famous and louder neighbor, England, it’s about time that Ireland got its time in the spotlight.

Ireland is jam-packed with hidden gems, but its capital, Dublin, is a great place to start – party at the famous Temple bar, take a tour of the Guinness Storehouse, and get back in touch with your inner literature-lover at the James Joyce museum at Martello Tower.

If you’re looking to explore further, be sure to include the dramatic Cliffs of Moher and the Giant’s Causeway, as well as the glacial lakes of Glendalough and the charming city of Cork in the south.

Morocco

Located in the north of Africa, yet still carrying a distinct flavor of Arabia and the Middle East, Morocco is a safe and affordable destination that is still yet to be hit by mainstream tourism, whilst offering a cultural vacation experience like no other.

Hike Mount Toubkal or set off on a journey through the Atlas Mountains or try sandboarding in the golden landscape of the Sahara Desert.

The capital city, Meknes, is seriously underrated, boasting a magnificent imperial gated old city that is certainly worth exploring.

If you’re a Game of Thrones fan, be sure to pay a visit to Ait Benhaddou or Essaouira, which were both used as filming locations for the hit HBO show.

Don’t miss out on bigger names such as Marrakech or Fes – there’s no better place to find some exquisite tiles, or an authentic Moroccan rug that you can take home and cherish in your home forever.

Hawaii

The North Shore of Oahu has perhaps always been the top spot in the world for surfers, but there’s a real abundance of other extraordinary things to see and do in Hawaii’s island archipelago.

There are incredible adventures to be found on each and every island.

In Oahu, try surfing in Haleiwa, spot rare green turtles, take a historic tour of Pearl Harbor, and hike the Diamond Head Trail Summit.

Enjoy the perks of nature on Maui with waterfalls, sweeping valleys, dazzling rainforests and natural geysers.

On ‘The Big Island’ you can swim with manta rays, investigate delightful Hawaiian towns such as Hilo or Kona, and visit the Volcanoes National Park and the famous black sand beaches that surround it.
